Last spring, some of our youth met with me for a MidWeek brainstorming session about ways to care for our neighbors in the community. After some great questions, suggestions and conversation, what resulted was a plan to collect hygiene items. We would pack them into small baggies and keep them on hand for the congregation to hand out to our siblings in Christ experiencing homelessness. Later in the spring, my Furman intern, Luke McElveen, built on their brainstorm and developed their plan into a church-wide mission project. Because of their efforts, during the month of September the church will be collecting the items listed. These items will be packed into hygiene kits and made available to the congregation to be handed out to people in need that they may encounter. The kits can be an alternative to handing out cash and will contain items that everyone can use. The goal is to have these kits available year-round in the Narthex. If you would like to participate, please bring your donations (travel-size containers) to the front office entrance or the hallway outside the Fellowship Hall during the month of September.
