First Baptist Greenville, SC, a progressive and inclusive faith community, is seeking part-time AYMC Assistants. The Activities and Youth Ministry Center (AYMC) is a gym space and fitness center that shares space with the Youth Ministry of our church. AYMC Assistants are the greeters for the facility, responsible for welcoming AYMC members and guests and generally support the operation of the center. Learn more about the AYMC here.
Successful candidates will have schedule flexibility, great customer service skills and basic computer skills. Previous employment experience in a gym or fitness center is helpful and not required.
Primary Function/General Purpose of Position
AYMC Staff Assistants support all aspects of the Activities and Youth Ministry Center, including Fitness Center membership and operations, managing athletic and non-athletic rentals, and actively contributing to building a safe and welcoming community within the AYMC.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Be the staff presence for all events happening at the AYMC and Practice Gym, monitoring for safety and providing support and quality service to all guests and participants.
- Actively contribute to creating a positive, welcoming environment for all members and guests who come to the AYMC.
- Greet all members and guests who come to the Welcome Desk, answering questions, providing directions, and offering membership support as needed.
- Complete physical set-ups (tables, chairs, equipment) and the reset of those spaces before and after rental, fitness, community and church events.
- Assist in maintaining a clean and safe environment for members and rental guests, including fitness areas, lobby, locker rooms, restrooms, rental spaces, and all gyms.
- Use gym management software properly to support member and guests, and utilize scheduling software to anticipate set up/reset needs during each shift.
- Complete required daily tasks, such as selling memberships, taking payments, checking in members, answering phone, providing helpful information to guests and members, and offering tours.
- Follow established security procedures to open and close the facility.
- In the event of an emergency, be prepared to take the lead and intervene, taking necessary steps to safely resolve the situation, calling 911 if necessary.
- Assist AYMC Director as needed on other initiatives and administrative support, such as social media content creation, marketing, invoicing, scheduling.
