At First Baptist Greenville, we believe in walking alongside families from birth through college. As Bridget and I have dreamed about how to best support children, youth, and their families, we recognized one of the most important ways we can do this is through parent & guardian education. Out of that vision, we developed FBG’s Parent & Guardian Education Initiative.

This Initiative provides parents and guardians with resources, trusted voices, and meaningful conversations to help families grow through every stage of their child’s development. Events focus on three core areas: faith, mental health, and sexuality & safety.

Faith: We know it can feel overwhelming to weave faith and theology into the busyness of daily life. We want to offer resources, simple practices, and encouraging voices that empower you to live confidently as the primary faith educators for your children.

Mental Health: Parents are increasingly seeking guidance on supporting their children’s mental health. Each year, we bring in local professionals to speak on topics like depression, anxiety, ADHD, and neurodiversity—providing space for questions, conversations, and encouragement.

Sexuality & Safety: From internet use to body image, bullying, body safety, and LGBTQ awareness, these conversations matter deeply. We will provide trusted resources, age-appropriate workshops, and safe spaces for families to explore these important topics together.

Engage with our Parent Dinner Party on November 6, 6:00–8:00pm in the Fellowship Hall.
We invite all parents, grandparents and guardians to join us for our next event in this series: a Parent Dinner Party on Loneliness and Bullying.

Over a delicious three-course meal ($15/person, with vegetarian and gluten-free options available), you’ll enjoy conversation and hear from Kelsey Johnson with GIFT Counseling Center for Wellness, LLC, who will talk about supporting your child’s mental health. Depending on registrations, childcare may be provided.

We are grateful to walk alongside you as you do the holy work of raising children and youth.

—Mary Carol Anderson, Minister of Youth & College
