Riley Hagan is an accomplished solo bassist residing in California’s San Francisco Bay area. He is a graduate of the Berklee School of Music in Boston, Massachusetts, a student/disciple of the world-renowned Michael Manring, a much sought after instructor and an incredibly competent composer. His intricate knowledge of the instrument, technology and music allow him to share a ‘jazz and world music sound’ that draws in the listener and sets the perfect mood for a World Communion Sunday.

Now specializing in online bass lessons through Skype, Riley has been teaching bass since he was 14 years old. He has been a featured artist at the Berklee College of Music Five-Week Program. Riley’s performances include the Berklee Bass Lines Concert and the New Hampshire Bass Fest. He has also been a guest teacher at the EM&T Music Institute in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Riley has performed and studied with: Michael Manring (World-renowned solo artist, “Bassist of the Year” Bass Player Magazine, 1994), Felix Pastorius (Macklemore, YellowJackets), Les Claypool (Primus), Jim Stinnett (Instructor of Mike Gordon from Phish), Steve Bailey (Chair of the Berklee School of Music Bass Dept., Dizzy Gillespie, Victor Wooten), Marshall Wood (Tony Bennett), and Joe Hunt (Stan Getz, Bill Evans), among others.

Riley will be our guest in our 10:30am worship service, sharing some of his music. At 6:00pm, he will present a Coffeehouse Concert at Fernwood Baptist (200 Fernwood Ave., Spartanburg). Both of these events are free and open to the public. Invite your friends!
