I am thankful our congregation is supportive of United Ministries throughout the year, as individual volunteers as well as through collective efforts. Some of the ways we partner with United Ministries are through hosting homeless families in the IHN ministry; helping to sponsor the Uniting for Change luncheon and Transformation Walk; collecting canned fruit for the food pantry; providing Foundation grant money for GED exam fees, employment readiness, and interim housing; and sending funds toward the Emergency Assistance program to help Greenville residents with rent and utilities.
This week you can do a little extra for United Ministries in two specific ways—register for our church’s team for the Transformation Walk and 5K Run and bring your canned fruit for our September fruit drive! The Walk is Sunday, October 6, and starts and ends right here on our campus—registration at 1pm and race/walk at 2pm: https://p2p.onecause.com/transformationwalk/team/first-baptist-greenville
The fruit drive is a way to celebrate our year-round commitment to collecting fruit and a chance to stock the shelves for the fall. It’s the perfect way to honor Jim’s birthday by bringing 10 or more cans! As a reminder, here is more information on the fruit drive and why we do it: https://firstbaptistgreenville.com/focus-on-missions-united-ministries/
