Carol McEntyre

Senior Minister

Meet Carol, our Senior Minister at First Baptist Greenville. With a unique calling to cultivating the kin-dom of God on earth, Carol has a deep commitment to inclusivity, racial justice and advocacy for the oppressed. She has a passion for preaching and enjoys taking a deep exploratory dive into Scripture and making connections to our everyday lives. Carol is committed (most days) to spiritual practices, which help her draw near to Christ, such as moments of silence, expressions of gratitude, and the intentional practice of Sabbath-keeping. She is also an extrovert who thoroughly enjoys connecting with people. Carol joined First Baptist as Pastor in 2024.

Both Carol and her husband Michael grew up in TN. They met in college at Carson Newman and feel lucky to be partners in life. They have two children, Nate and Marin.

Carol was ordained by Lake Shore Baptist Church in Waco TX. She served as the Community Minister at First Baptist Knoxville for 7 years and as Senior Pastor at First Baptist Church in Columbia MO for 11 years before coming to First Baptist Greenville. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Human Services from Carson Newman College and is also a graduate of George W. Truett Theological Seminary and the Diana R. Garland School of Social Work at Baylor University, where she earned her Master of Divinity and Master of Social Work. She also has a Doctor of Ministry in Worship, Preaching, and Spirituality from Drew University in New Jersey.

Carol is actively engaged in Cooperative Baptist Fellowship (CBF) and served as the Moderator from 2019-2020 and led the Fellowship through an unprecedented time of ministering during a global pandemic. Carol has served on the Leadership Team for Baptist Women in Ministry (2015-2018) and served as a mentor for new ministers through the Baptist Women in Ministry mentoring program. Carol also took part in the Alliance of Baptist Thriving for Racial Justice cohort from (2020-2023).

Carol enjoys the great outdoors and can often be found walking the trails in Greenville or camping with her family. Carol is an avid reader and appreciates a good novel and books about theology and church. Some of her favorite authors as of late are Brian McLaren, Brene Brown, Jemar Tisby, Marcus Borg, Kate Bowler, bell hooks, and N.T. Wright.

Mary Carol Anderson

Minister of Youth and College

“Over the years, First Baptist Greenville has been a place where I was taught, loved, encouraged, and given the freedom to discover who I am as a gifted child of God. It is the nurturing of this congregation that led me to discover my calling in youth ministry.” With over 20 years of experience in youth ministry, Mary Carol is a life-long youth minister deeply passionate about guiding and inspiring young people in their faith journeys. Her journey began with a Bachelor of Science in Graphic Communications from Clemson University in 2002, followed by a Master of Divinity from Baptist Theological Seminary at Richmond, VA, in 2008, with a specific focus on Youth Ministry. She had a short career in Advertising from 2002 – 2005 before realizing her calling to Youth Ministry in the local church. From 2008 to 2015, she served as the Associate Minister of Youth and College at Aiken’s First Baptist Church in Aiken, SC. Since 2015, she has continued this calling in her home church, as the Minister of Youth and College at First Baptist Greenville, SC.

Having a deep passion for helping teens feel a sense of belonging and acceptance, she helped launch the PrideLink Youth Community, a non-profit organization for LGBTQ+ youth in Greenville, SC. This initiative was born out of a desire to provide a safe, welcoming space for LGBTQ+ teens to find community and support, and out of her personal commitment to youth advocacy and inclusion.

A significant part of her ministry has been dedicated to Unidiversity Youth Camp, a week-long Christian summer camp for teenagers. Having attended the first gathering of camp in 1993 at Shorter College in Georgia, she experienced its impact firsthand. Since 2008, she has served on the leadership team as a co-leader of the Administration Team.

When she’s not working, you’ll find her outside playing in the yard, sitting on the porch, and drinking coffee! Being a nature nerd, she loves plants, and tending to her garden serves as a peaceful way to unwind. Family is everything to her! She recently married her husband, Nate, and is a proud mom to Hadley, a Sophomore at Maryville College, Brooklyn, a Senior in high school, and Coda, a Sophomore in high school.

Laura Ritter

Minister of Music

Laura Ritter, a native of Morristown, TN, is excited to share the joy of praising God through music at First Baptist Greenville. A graduate of Furman University, she completed a Master of Music in Choral Conducting at the University of Illinois and has done further graduate work at the University of Tennessee in Organ Performance. Laura loves singing with folks of all ages. She has taught college students at Anderson University, Clemson University and Walters State Community College and has founded two community choirs for children. Her current group, Young Voices of the Foothills has locations in Seneca, Pendleton, and Anderson. She has served various churches in her career, most recently serving as choir director and organist at Saint Mark United Methodist Church in Seneca, SC.

Another passion of Laura’s is musical theater, and as a founding company member of Encore Theatrical Company, she has served as musical director for shows such as “Les Misérables,” “Little Women,” “Sunday in the Park with George,” and “Bright Star.” Since moving to the Upstate, Laura works with both Clemson Little Theatre and Centrestage.

“I can remember the first time I sang a hymn with my children’s choir at First Baptist Church of Morristown, TN. It was the hymn “When Morning Gilds the Skies” and it was the most glorious thing I had ever heard. I think I knew from that moment on that singing would always be an important part of my life and my faith journey.”

Laura and husband Greg (who also sings!) live in Clemson and enjoy traveling and college sports. Their son Cameron and his wife Madelyn live in Raleigh, NC.

Camille Loomis Rehnborg

Minister of Spiritual Formation and Outreach

“FBG’s community is a jewel of the Upstate! We work to be a faith community where all questions, testimonies, joys and curiosities are enthusiastically welcome. I am grateful for the lively spirit in our congregation and the ways we support one another through thick and thin. Despite being a large church, our deep love for each other makes it feel like home.” Prior to seminary, Rev. Camille worked as a middle school orchestra director in Mississippi. She is particularly drawn to God’s creative beauty expressed in music, art, and story. Camille is married to Matthew, a fellow seminary graduate and expert in community design. Camille joined FBG’s staff in 2020, when she honed her televangelist poses for online worship, and was ordained by FBG in 2022.

Bridget Kokolis

Minister of Children

Rev. Bridget Kokolis served as Minister to Families at Augusta Road Baptist church here in Greenville for six years and served as the Associate Minister of Spiritual Formation at Greenlawn Baptist Church in Columbia, SC for ten years.
Bridget has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sociology from the University of South Carolina and earned her Master of Divinity degree from Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary.
Bridget has a passion for teaching each child about God’s abundant love and walking alongside families as they seek to deepen their faith together.
Bridget is married to Michael Sr. They have a twelve-year-old son, also named Michael. She loves spending time with her family, their pets, and finding chances to create.

Kyle Matthews

Minister of Pastoral Care

“FBC Greenville is unique! Here, gifts are matched to ministries, and the fruit of that approach is evident in the quality, substance, and diversity of her ministries. When I considered taking this position, I asked myself: where else could all the facets of my gifts, interests, education and experience be put to good use? FBC is one of few such places, and it is a privilege to serve in such a church.” Kyle and his wife, Susan, have two children, Emily and Christopher. A teenage member of the church’s youth group from 1976 to 1982, Kyle has been on staff at First Baptist Greenville since Fall 2008.

Matt Rollins

Minister of Community Engagement

“I love the people of FBC, how they take care of each other, and how seriously they take becoming God’s people. Their concern for the community and their willingness to both lead and follow in mission and ministry initiatives are also things I admire and encourage. What a great place to be a minister!” Matt and his wife, Rolyn, have three children, Jack, Celie Ann, and Lucy. He has been on staff at First Baptist Greenville since September 2003.

Michael McEntyre

Minister of Engaged Aging

“I am thrilled to join a congregation with such a rich history, one that has been shaping and transforming the Greenville community and beyond for nearly 200 years. It is a privilege to be part of a church that not only acknowledges emerging trends in aging demographics but is also dedicated to creating a meaningful ministry to celebrate, care for, and equip those who have long contributed to our faith family. This commitment represents a beautiful ministry opportunity and one I am excited to engage.”

The Rev. Dr. Michael McEntyre is married to the Rev. Dr. Carol McEntyre, our Senior Minister. A native of East Tennessee, Michael earned his undergraduate degree from Carson-Newman University and completed his seminary education at George W. Truett Seminary at Baylor University in 2003. He later achieved his doctoral degree from Fuller Theological Seminary in 2019.

Michael began his vocational ministry at Stonegate Community Church while still in seminary and was ordained at First Baptist Church in Augusta, GA. He and Carol worked together at First Baptist Church in Knoxville, TN, for seven years before moving to Missouri, where they served together for over a decade at First Baptist Church in Columbia. They are now excited to call First Baptist Greenville their home.

Outside of ministry, Michael enjoys spending time with his children, Nate and Marin, and traveling with Carol and their family. He has a soft spot for Dad jokes and loves a good story. Michael finds joy in connecting with people from all walks of life and is as comfortable in the professional world as he is working in the pasture. He also loves dogs and is currently trying to convince his family to adopt an Aussie-Bernie-Mountain-Doodle into the family. He is not having much success.
