August Missions Collection: Mission Backpack

Have you heard of the team of First Baptist volunteers working behind the scenes each week to help fight childhood hunger in Greenville County? Our Mission Backpack team includes numbers of volunteers who make Costco runs for bulk boxes of mac ‘n’ cheese or granola bars; who come to the missions hallway on weekdays to portion out food into (sometimes hundreds of) individual bags; and who finally load up all of those bags and drive them out to local schools, where school staff will end the week by stuffing a bag of shelf-stable food into kids’ backpacks who might otherwise not have enough food for the weekend.
As we gear up for the start of a new school year, you are invited to help out! You can help by contacting Elaine Barnhill about becoming a volunteer; by donating through Realm (just select “Mission Backpack” in the dropdown); or by bringing canned ravioli to the Reception Area to be included in the bags.
