A SEE RETREAT ON THE SPIRITUALITY OF IMPROV COMEDY
Could you use some help listening intently to what others have to say?
Do choices cause you to struggle to move?
We sometimes think that when given a choice, proposition or opportunity, we let our yes be yes and our no be no. In reality, there is such a wide spectrum of answers we give. Answers like “definitely not,” “maybe,” “yes, but my heart’s not in it,” “I’m not sure, so I just won’t respond,” and on and on and on. In improv, the only response that moves things forward and builds is “Yes, and!” which is to say: agree that what has been built exists and add something of your own on top of it.
Join us Saturday, October 27, for a Spiritual Enrichment Event (SEE) when Brooke Johnston and Ben Burris, members of First Baptist and of Alchemy Comedy Theater, will dive headlong into an introduction to improv comedy and the spiritual practices and faith lessons we can learn from this craft.
