One of the busiest, most active, and most popular events of the year at First Baptist Greenville is the churchwide Yard Sale, where church members and friends from the community converge on our Practice Gym to joyfully haggle over furniture, office equipment, appliances, books, exercise equipment, silverware, kitchenware, toys and other household items. Proceeds from the sale will benefit Neighborhood Partnership and Inasmuch Days, two ministries that support the work of trusted local nonprofits and service days in neighboring communities, as well as help with Trunk or Treat, Christmas, utility bills, wheelchair ramps, and general repairs for nearby families in need.

While the actual Yard Sale occurs over the course of two action packed days in our Practice Gym—this Friday and Saturday!—the preparation and planning required to make it happen began months ago and involved the work of over 25 dedicated volunteers who do everything from picking up furniture and other items from homes to pricing and organizing them. In my role as staff liaison and admin support for the Yard Sale Committee, I have been so impressed with the volunteers who show up EVERY Thursday to sort, organize and price donated items, with the Pickup Pros, who have been going and getting some of the trickier (and heavier) items from homes since the fall, and with those who showed up to help out on Inasmuch Day last Saturday.

The Yard Sale Committee members have gotten us to this point. Now, they are asking you to help them cross the finish line and make it a success. Here is how you can help!
• Come shop the Yard Sale! That thing you didn’t know you needed will be waiting for you this Friday and Saturday.
Sign up for a 3-hour volunteer shift to help make sure the sale event will be enjoyable and safe for everyone.

Hope to see you this weekend!

—Matt Rollins, Minister of Community Engagement, and the Yard Sale Committee
