For the last several years, First Baptist has provided a Trunk or Treat experience for the neighborhood children of Nicholtown. We were the host for the first two years, and all the children came to the parking lot of First Baptist. Although the event was very successful, we realized that we could reach more children if we moved Trunk or Treat to the community where most of the children lived. We were right: the number of children served increased each year!

This year, due to COVID-19, we need to make another change. Instead of having an in-person Trunk or Treat, we will provide a Halloween Surprise for all the children that are in afterschool programs at the upper and lower buildings at the Phillis Wheatly Community Center and the Nicholtown Community Center on Rebecca Street.

We will prepare 120 candy bags and provide a Trick or Treat bag for each child, so we will need lots of treats. Please drop off bags of your favorite candy and treats in the container at the front entrance of the church. One hundred twenty bags seems like a lot less candy than we’ve given out in years past, but we want to send a full bag of treats with each child, knowing it will be shared with others in the home.

Please consider helping again this year when, for safety reasons, our traditional Trunk or Treat cannot occur, but our connection to these families is needed more than ever. All of your donations will be greatly appreciated and a real TREAT for the children in Nicholtown. Thank you in advance for your participation again this year!
