A highlight of every Youth Family Merge Retreat is the throwing of a ball of yarn from person to person and naming traits of our Youth Family. “We are kind, we are fun, we are inclusive, and we are loved.” There are many beautiful aspects of our family, and by the time we are finished throwing the ball of yarn, we have created a web of community. This community has been my life for over three years now, and my life would be very different had I not been welcomed into our Youth Family and First Baptist Greenville.
I have accepted a call to be the Minister of Youth and Children at Benson Baptist Church in Benson, NC, a small town a little south of Raleigh. It is much smaller than First Baptist Greenville, and the youth and children ministries there have not had a steady minister in many years. It is because of the love each youth, staff member, and church member has shown me that I will be able to love them and help them create a community like our church and the FBG Youth Family. Celine will be teaching second grade at South Smithfield Elementary School and began today. I will join her soon. My last day at First Baptist Greenville will be Sunday, August 22. The Youth Family had a drop-in goodbye party following worship yesterday, and I am very grateful for that. I love this church and the family within it and am so thankful for you. Thank you for being such an incredible community.
Love, Will Raybon
