The Bridge Young Adult and College group spent the last Saturday of January digging in the dirt in near-freezing temperatures. In all my wisdom, I chose to have us meet at 9:00 on a January morning to walk over to Annie’s House to help prepare the land for spring planting. Our mix of young adults and college students bundled up and spent the morning pulling weeds and spreading mulch. Despite the cold, we had a great time learning more about Annie’s House and helping the staff prepare for the new growth that will spring up in just a few months. Following our morning of service, we regrouped for lunch outside the AYMC. We spread out around our patio heaters and enjoyed laughter and fellowship as we spent the early afternoon together. It was not the retreat in Montreat, NC, we have come to expect this time of year; however, it still reminded us that our group exists to be in community with one another during this unique season of life.
