The Rules of Church Order (RCO) were last Reviewed and Amended in 2017. In 2023, the Diaconate assigned an ad hoc Review Committee to conduct the next Review. Our RCO require two readings for approval. Between the First and Second Readings, questions were raised about potential revisions and we hired a new Senior Minister! The Review Committee met again to consider the additional input received over time.

On June 16, at the close of worship, there will be a Called Church Conference. The agenda will include the Foundation Trustee approval vote as well as the First Reading of the RCO. The red line version of that document is found here: https://firstbaptistgreenville.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/05/RCO-review-red-line.pdf. Paper copies are available in the church office and a limited number of copies will be available at the Conference. Please note that the First Reading is simply sharing the suggested revisions—no action will be taken at that time.

The Second Reading of the RCO will be held at a Called Church Conference on June 30, again at the close of worship. This will be the time for any discussion regarding the proposed revisions. Following any discussion, the Rules of Church Order will be presented for approval by congregational vote.

Many thanks to the Review Committee for their thoughtful and diligent work:
Matthew Burns, chair
Tom Bruce
