Stephen Ministry applications are now available at the Reception Desk and may also be accessed online at the FBG website under SERVE. The Stephen Ministry Leadership Team encourages your prayerful consideration of volunteering for this important ministry that trains laypeople to provide one-to-one Christian care for hurting people in our congregation and community. Applications for the 2022 training are due on or before December 8, 2021, and questions may be directed to members of the leadership team—Wofford Green, Duke McCall, Pat Booker-Christy or me. Volunteering for this important ministry requires a major commitment, but it is one that is sure to provide valuable rewards in the areas of spiritual, personal and relational growth. Training will take place from 5:45pm-8:00pm each Tuesday evening, January 11-April 26. (No training will occur on February 22, March 22, and April 19.) Two six-hour training retreats will be held on Saturdays, February 26 and March 26. After the new Stephen Ministers complete the 50 hours of training and are commissioned, they will join the Stephen Ministry team and participate in on-going continuing education and peer supervision from 5:00pm-7:30pm on the first and third Sundays of each month, mid-September through early June. Volunteers are expected to attend most of the training sessions, but we realize that other responsibilities might necessitate an occasional absence. When that occurs, a leader will provide a one-on-one shortened tutorial lesson. All training materials are provided through a generous gift by the late Michael Stogner. Thank you for your prayerful consideration of becoming a Stephen Minister. Please direct any questions to Wofford Green, Duke McCall, Pat Booker-Christy or me, members of the leadership team.
—Hazel Harris, Stephen Ministry Leader
