Theological education has long been, and continues to be, an important part of the mission and ministry of First Baptist Greenville. From adult Sunday School classes, Bible studies, Circle groups, Wednesday night programming, to age specific ministries, this church values learning. As a congregation, we believe in asking big questions and thinking deeply!

In an effort to enhance and expand theological education at First Baptist for congregants and community members, we are piloting a new theological education option for Sunday mornings. This new option called Forum for Theological Education at First Baptist (or for the marketing minds among us, “Forum at First”) will include several short-term classes each fall and spring on topics such as theology, church history, Baptist history, ethics and worship.

Forum at First will live alongside our existing Sunday School classes, not as a replacement, but as an extra option. Individual class members may decide to take a Forum course, but would retain membership in their current class. We hope these short-term courses will draw anyone interested in exploring specific topics, church members not connected to an existing class, and members of the Greenville community. Courses will meet in person and will be live-streamed and recorded.

We will offer a 6-week trial run of this additional education opportunity this fall, August 21-September 25. Courses will meet on Sunday mornings from 9:15-10:15am. We plan to offer two course options this fall: Introduction to Hebrew Scriptures (taught by Jim Dant) and one course to be determined.

We need your input! Help us decide on the second course option by filling out a short survey. Let us know your course preferences or offer other feedback on the Forum at First Interest Survey.

Copies of the survey are available:

• Online at firstbaptistgreenville.com/adults

• On the FBG Facebook page

• In paper form in your Sunday School Class folders or Joint Sunday School

• In paper form at the front desk

Please return paper copies to the front desk, Matt Rollins or me.
