Missions at First Baptist Greenville is a way of approaching the world. It is Imago Dei, it is Namaste, it is the appreciation that we all belong to God and if we look hard enough, we might find Christ in each person we meet, including ourselves.
Missions at First
Missions at First Baptist Greenville is a way of approaching the world.
It is Imago Dei, it is Namaste, it is the appreciation that we all belong to God and if we look hard enough, we might find Christ in each person we meet, including ourselves. At First Baptist Greenville, missions involves members of all ages engaging in ministry with partners in our backyard, in Cuba, in South Africa, in Mississippi, in Puerto Rico, and places in between.
Whether partnering with IHN to welcome homeless families to our church, partnering with our sister congregation in Guanjay, Cuba to encourage the growth of the Joining Hands Cooperative and other community ministries, partnering with our neighbors in Nicholtown with local ministries through our annual Inasmuch Day or partnering in one of the many other opportunities we offer, missions at First Baptist Greenville is about people.

Missions at First Baptist Greenville encourages the development of individuals’ spiritual gifts as new ministries “bubble up” from the passions of members and their willingness to be servant leaders. Missions at First Baptist Greenville respects genuine reflection and the depth of experience we can have when we expand our comfort zones and get to know our brothers and sisters in other parts of the world, other parts of Greenville and within our church family. It celebrates that we can encounter God through these encounters with others.

Monthly Focus
Each month we highlight a local organization or church mission partner and collect items needed to support their ministry.
Please bring your donations to the collection boxes located throughout the church, where volunteers will collect and deliver them.
This Month
Canned Fruit Collection
First Baptist Greenville has a long history of supporting our neighbors in need by collecting canned fruit for the United Ministries Food Pantry. We have a wonderful team of volunteers who gather fruit donations each month and deliver them to United Ministries on behalf of our congregation.
As we have done each September for a number of years, we will once again celebrate Pastor Jim’s birthday by collecting canned fruit throughout the month as our September Missions Focus. As we approach Pastor Jim’s retirement in October, let’s make this our biggest year yet!
Please bring canned fruit donations any time during the month to our drop-off locations on campus: Front Desk, Fellowship Hall Lobby or AYMC Lobby. (Please make sure items have not reached their expiration date.)
Thank you all for your continued generosity in providing canned fruit for the United Ministries Food Pantry! The pantry—one of many crisis assistance programs offered by United Ministries—uses a client-choice model which allows families to choose the food items that fit their needs. For more information about the impact this organization is making in our community, visit united-ministries.org/crisis-assistance.
