Mission Grants
Mission Statement
We are a community of believers in God as revealed in Jesus Christ as Lord. We believe in the authority of the Bible, the equality of all members, unity in diversity, and the priesthood of all believers. In communion with and through the power of the Holy Spirit, we follow the Way of Jesus the Christ and share the Good News through worship, education, ministries, and missions. As an autonomous Baptist church, we value our heritage and the freedom it allows us to minister alongside other groups, both Christian and non-Christian. We express our love for all in gratitude for the love God has shown to us.
Funding Guidelines for First Baptist Greenville’s Mission Grants
- The committee will primarily fund projects that align with the church’s mission statement and involve ministering to the “least of these.”
- The committee will seek to make balanced disbursements among local, state, national, and international projects.
- The committee will give preference to those projects where there is direct involvement, or at least opportunities for involvement, of members of First Baptist Church.
- New initiatives that provide significant support for non-members and meet the other funding guidelines will be considered for a grant of “seed” or start up monies, with the understanding that if the ministry proves viable, ongoing funding for operations should come through other funding sources.
- Requests for ongoing operating funds will not normally be funded.
- Multi-year requests or commitments will be granted only on a limited basis to projects that meet criteria #1 and #3 above.
