Under the guidance of Mission Backpack Coordinators Susan Shelley and Amanda Paton-Znak, and alongside the faithful service of the volunteers and donors, this ministry ensures that students in underserved neighborhoods and vulnerable families have essential weekend sustenance throughout the school year. From procuring food items at local stores to packing them into bags and delivering them to schools, and finally placing them into the hands of students every Friday afternoon, this ministry relies on many hands and feet.
After three years of dedicated oversight, Susan and Amanda are taking a well-deserved step back. The Missions and Affiliations Committee members feel a deep gratitude to them on behalf of the church and acknowledge their leadership as an excellent example of lay-led ministry (my personal favorite kind!). As Mission Backpack concludes the 2023-24 school year, we invite you to consider whether volunteering or contributing to Mission Backpack aligns with your calling at First Baptist.
