Make plans now to be in worship as often as you can. Try to add Wednesdays at First activities to your schedule. We have something for every age group! Our youngest ones enjoy time with excellent caregivers in the nursery. Missions and Children’s Choirs (5:30-7:00pm) begin at age 3 and continue through 5th grade. Youth in grades 6-12 congregate in the AYMC after school for ‘hang time’ before eating supper and having Bible study. Adults participate in MidWeek Fellowship (6:15-7:00pm).
For MidWeek Fellowship in January, Kyle will lead a study titled “The Narrow Way” based upon the passage in Matthew where Jesus says,”…small is the gate and narrow the way that leads to life, and only a few find it” (Matthew 7:14). Although there are those who use this verse as a basis for legalism and exclusivity, it runs counter to the actions and other words of Jesus—Jesus who said, “Come unto me all ye who are weary and heavy laden.” Kyle says, “The ‘narrow way’ can be better understood as part of the great wisdom tradition that runs the length of the Bible. It offers us a hopeful path forward in our real-world dilemmas, and it truly ‘leads to life’! Let’s explore it together each Wednesday night this January.” Carson and Laura Foushee, Cooperative Baptist Fellowship missionaries to Japan, will be sharing with us on February 5, and Jim will begin a study of the Gospel of John the following week. In particular, he will be talking about how this gospel—so different from the others—was written specifically for the church of the first century and continues to speak to the church today.
To make things more convenient, we offer Wednesday night supper in our Fellowship Hall. Reservations need to be made by noon on the Monday preceding the meal, and permanent reservations for the winter/spring are available. Make reservations at https://firstbaptistgreenville.com/wednesdays-at-first/. Serving lines are open 4:45-6:00pm. Come enjoy time around the tables with your church family, nourishing your body and your soul.
