First Baptist Greenville prides itself on being a teaching congregation. Our church has committed itself to the holy work of guiding and nurturing young ministers as they begin their work in the world. Our Youth Family has been fortunate to have directly benefited from this commitment. For the better part of the past three years, Sarah Laurence has worked alongside the youth staff as we have taught, planned and cared for our youth. This has included teaching Bible studies, leading in worship, assisting in the planning of trips and events, and forming relationships with both youth and adults within our congregation. While doing all these things, Sarah has also completed a summer unit of Clinical Pastoral Education during the pandemic, and nearly completed her Master of Divinity degree at Gardner-Webb University.
The bittersweet part about being a teaching congregation means that if we do our job well, we eventually must say, “See you later!” We are very excited to announce that Sarah has answered Aiken First Baptist Church’s call to serve as their Interim Director to Youth. Sarah is thrilled and we could not be more proud. Sarah has loved every minute of her time here and wishes to extend her deepest thanks to our church. Sarah’s last day with us will be Sunday, May 16th. We hope you all will join us in congratulating Sarah!
