This summer our Youth Family will partner with the faith-based, non-profit organization Sowing Seeds of Hope to serve the people of Perry County in Marion, Alabama, for their Mission Trip. Perry County is one of 20 poorest counties in the U.S. Population – 10,623 with 32% of those people living in poverty. Sowing Seeds of Hope has a 25-year commitment and partnership between the people of Perry County and CBF (Cooperative Baptist Fellowship) to help raise the standard of living with housing solutions, healthcare assistance, spiritual renewal and educational resources.
Our missions will involve assisting with a variety of construction projects to help improve homes and other community buildings, in addition to helping lead school-aged children’s literacy camps at the Perry County library. During some of our free time, we will have the opportunity to engage and invest in the community and to learn about their historic town with deep roots in the Civil Rights Movement.
In efforts to support Sowing Seeds of Hope and our Youth Family, we will be collecting socks and school supplies during the month of May.
Please place the following items in the purple collection bins around the church:
- socks for children
- school supplies –paper, pens, pencils, glue,
- tablets and construction paper
