What kind of baptist church is FBG? Technically, we are not part of a denomination at all, at least not in the sense that Presbyterians or Lutherans are. We, like other baptist churches, affiliate or fellowship or form alliances with other churches to collaborate on large-scale ministry while maintaining congregational autonomy.

One of the baptist networks we support with our giving and representation includes the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of South Carolina (CBFSC). CBF of SC hosts an annual General Assembly to gather, pray, meet new friends from other CBF churches, celebrate long-time relationships, learn about the work of CBFSC and nonprofit partners, and vote on organizational policy. First Baptist is this year’s host for the CBF of SC General Assembly!

The day will include a morning worship service led by Baptist Women in Ministry, breakout sessions on various topics (including one on cultivating a strong children and youth ministry led by our very own Bridget Kokolis and Mary Carol Anderson!), catered lunch, information, finances and celebrations in the business session, afternoon worship and plenty of opportunity for fellowship and connection with CBF folks from across SC.

Many FBG staff are involved in planning and leading assembly elements, including Carol, Kyle, Matt, Camille, Bridget, Mary Carol and Fred; and many church members will be assisting guests all day. The whole church is warmly encouraged to participate in General Assembly through volunteering or attending.

Register at https://cbfsc.org/general-assembly/. Registration, events and childcare are free! Lunch may be reserved for a cost.

We need volunteers! Interested in helping? Fill out the volunteer interest form at: tinyurl.com/CBFatFBG.
