It’s HERE! The FBDS 2024-2025 Ornament Fundraiser! This year’s ornament features artwork by FBDS Parent and alum, Kate Furman @katefurmanjewelry. Each ornament is $25.
The vase of flowers represents this year’s school thread “Building a Sense of Community: Fostering Connection and Relationships between Children, Families and Colleagues.” For this design, Kate focused on the words “community,” “connection,” “relationships” and “children.” The vase of flowers represents the community of FBDS with different flora thriving together. The special characteristics of children are represented with the meanings behind specific flowers.
Daisies represent “innocence, purity, motherhood and new beginnings.”
Hydrangea represents “gratitude, honesty and deep understanding.”
Lupine stands for “happiness, creativity and imagination.”
Dandelion shows “youth and joy.”
Lavender represents “purity, silence, serenity and grace.”
Pansy signifies “adoration, self-expression and sympathy.”
Larkspur exemplifies “levity, purity, sweetness and laughter.”
Camelia is shown for “passion, balance, beauty and youth.”
Each of these characteristics are valued and cultivated by the families and colleagues of our community. Look closely, and you can find each of these flowers within the vase. Each child contains some of the characteristics visualized here.
We are so grateful that Kate has shared her time and talents with us, and that she is this year’s featured ornament artist. Thank you Kate!
