October 4—Friday Lunch & More! Our Lunch & More events bring together a wide variety of First Baptist folks and our community friends to share fun and fellowship around the tables as we learn together, get to know one another, and enjoy a delicious meal. All are invited to come early at 10:30am for Book Club in the Media Center or Games & More in the Fellowship Hall. We will all gather in the Fellowship Hall at 11:00am for our welcome and announcements and hear from our guest speaker at 11:15am. Lunch will be served at noon. I will be the speaker for the October 4 gathering, talking about the beauty of sharing our stories as well as revealing a bit of my own. Cost of the lunch is $5.
October 8—Holy Rollers Visit Justus Orchard in Hendersonville (with lunch out). The bus will leave at 10:00am from FBG. Our Holy Rollers trips are coordinated in collaboration with our Neighborhood Partnership community and Matt Rollins, our Minister of Community Engagement. Trips are usually the second Tuesday of each month.
October 17—Let’s Take a Hike. This new addition to our lineup offers a great chance to get outdoors and enjoy the beauty of the upstate and beyond. Our inaugural hike will be to Station Cove Falls in historic Oconee Station. Station Cove Falls is a 60-foot waterfall and a moderate 3-mile hike. Afterwards, we will head to Walhalla’s Steak House Cafeteria for lunch, followed by an afternoon visit to the Cherokee Museum. There will be a bus leaving from FBG at 9am, or you can meet us at Oconee Station at 10am. The bus will plan to be back at the church around 4pm.
October 24—Roadrunners Visit Sky Top Orchard and Lunch at the Flat Rock Wood Room. The bus will leave FBG at 10am. Roadrunners trips are coordinated by our Senior Adult Committee and work to provide enjoyable opportunities for everyone in our Engaged Aging community. These trips are normally on the third or fourth Thursday of the month (with some exceptions).
