The week of June 20-27 is not one I will soon forget. Amidst all of the craziness that 2020 brings us, 162 people, forming 47 teams, walked, ran, swam, biked and did a host of other activities to say enough to racial injustice. The challenge was for each team to move at least 54 miles during the week which was the length of the Selma to Montgomery march in 1965. Boy, did everyone move with total miles for the week equaling 4,604.60, an average of 98 miles per team. The winning team was Girvin Fam (Doug, Rhonda, Ashley, Rachel) with a total of 378 miles. We had daily challenges and those winners were:
Ubuntu—Best Team Name (Debbie Paden Mobley, Sarah Mobley, Carson Kirby, Sydney Beason)
Jim Childress—Most Determined
Doug Girvin—Most Active
Harry Culpepper—Most Pictures Posted in One Day
Josiah Smith—Most Fun Activity Outfit
Sarah Byars—Best Recovery Pic
Laurin and Charles McDonald—Sweatiest Selfie
Baxter Wynn—Most Scenic Picture

Also during the week, resources were posted that allowed us to read, watch and learn about racial injustice and how we can do our part. Here is a comprehensive list of resources which includes ones we posted plus additional ones.
The week would not have been what it was without the input and help of Mary Carol Anderson and Becky Ramsey. I am so grateful for them. Their knowledge of social media and resources is incredible. Many, many thanks for each person who chose to participate by moving, following along and/or praying. Don’t stop now…keep going and be part of the solution.
