In my work here in music ministry, I have the opportunity to work with some dedicated, highly gifted people. Priscilla Harris is a talented musician who has sung in the Sanctuary Choir and led the Treble Choir (5-year-olds), in addition to serving as Children’s Choir Coordinator. I have so appreciated her administrative work and communication with the families and volunteer leaders in our Children’s Choir program. This crucial area of our Music Ministry involves a large number of people, and Priscilla has always done an excellent job as a coordinator. She is now resigning as Children’s Choir Coordinator, a position in which she has served 18 years. Fortunately, Priscilla and Ellen Wilson are planning to continue directing the preschool choirs. I want to thank Priscilla for her excellent work these past years, and most importantly, for sharing the gift of music with our children, a gift that can bring them joy for the rest of their lives.
We are fortunate to have Amy Joye taking on the role of Children’s Choir Coordinator this fall in addition to her work as Director of Vocare. Amy has already done an outstanding job directing our Junior Choir and Vocare for several years. She received her training in music from Furman University and Southern Seminary. She has worked with children’s choirs in churches in Kentucky and North and South Carolina, and has created and published curriculum for children’s choirs. Amy is a talented singer who shares her gifts with our congregation, the Greenville Chorale, Herring Chamber Ensemble and other ensembles in our community.
I am grateful for Priscilla Harris and Amy Joye and can never thank them enough for the many gifts they bring to all of us. They have been and will continue to be a blessing to our Music Ministry and church community.
