Since we couldn’t meet in person this year for Missions Blast, our elementary aged kids pondered this question through virtual Vacation Bible School. More than 50 kids participated, each receiving a bag of materials for crafts, snacks and games for 4 stories, one per week of July. Each Monday we met virtually through Zoom and celebrated the ways God helped the ordinary people in our sacred stories be brave. The kids especially enjoyed the videos, most of which were filmed right here at First Baptist back in 2015, acted out by kids they knew or recognized from the youth department! We crafted the stories, ate them, and learned them through play. We also memorized the verse written on the door at the end of the children’s hall, “Be strong and brave. Don’t be afraid because God will be with you wherever you go.” —Joshua 1:9.
Though our time with virtual VBS was fun, we can’t wait to be back on that hall, learning and enjoying each other in person!
