DESCRIPTION:\nWith a new month beginning, it is time to get to know another one of our local nonprofits! The Phillis Wheatley Community Center’s (philliswheatleysc.org) mission is to “collaborate with community partners to provide the tools and resources to empower all individuals, with a special focus on those from under-served communities, to achieve upward mobility and self-sufficiency.” One small part of the center’s work is the Hattie Duckett Food Pantry, which offers non-perishable food items (as well as toiletries when donations allow) once per month to each individual or family who needs it.
