WALKING THE LABYRINTH
Searching for a little focus? Join us on Saturday, October 14, for a practical, hands-on approach to praying with our senses. During this upcoming Spiritual Enrichment Event (SEE), we will delve into walking the labyrinth, a tool to help us stay in touch with the earth and creation. We will explore the labyrinth in a way that involves using our senses and objects of earth and nature to better appreciate the gift of creation. Scripture and reflective readings will help prepare and guide our walking of the labyrinth.
We will also explore other methods to find focus through prayer and mindfulness. We will allow ourselves to become grounded in the practice of walking on the earth using all our senses to connect with the experience. We will seek to encounter the practical holiness of “grounding.”
Our retreat team – Kathy Sharp, Ben Mullinax, Elaine Nocks and Nancy Neal – will lead us in movement, meditation and journaling. In the chaos and confusion of these days, such a time promises at least a taste of the “peace that passes understanding.”
Come between 9:30am and 10:00am in order to check in, drink some coffee and enjoy some fellowship with friends from First Baptist, Triune Mercy Center and elsewhere. The retreat will last from 10:00am to 12:30pm and will be followed by a lunch (also in the Parlor). The cost of this SEE retreat is $20, which includes lunch. Register at firstbaptistgreenville.com/walkingthelabyrinth where you may also pay ahead of time if you’d like. Hope to see you there!
