STEPHEN MINISTRY
FIRST BAPTIST GREENVILLE
January 23, 2017
TO: Stephen Ministry Care Giver Applicants
FROM: Stephen Ministry Leadership Team, First Baptist Greenville

Stephen Ministry Care Giver applications are now available at the church Reception Desk and may also be accessed on-line at the FBG website. The Stephen Ministry Leadership Team encourages your prayerful consideration of volunteering for this important ministry that trains laypeople to provide one-to-one Christian care for hurting people in our congregation. Applications must be submitted by February 19, and interviews will be scheduled as applications come in. Questions may be directed to the leadership team (Robin Barton, Wofford Green, Hazel Harris, Duke McCall, and Ann Quattlebaum) or any current Stephen Minister.

Volunteering for this important ministry requires a major commitment, but it is one that is sure to provide valuable dividends in the areas of spiritual, personnel, and relational growth. If we attain a sufficient number of trainees, a seven-hour retreat will begin the training at 9:00 am on Saturday, February 25, and weekly sessions will be held on Tuesday evenings from 5:45-8:45 pm, beginning on February 28 and ending on May 9. Two additional “all-day” Saturday sessions are planned for March 25 and May 9. Once the training is completed, the new Stephen Ministers will be commissioned and blessed in their ministry during a Sunday morning worship service.

Training materials cost $50 per set, and volunteers are asked to purchase this if their budget allows. Please speak with a member of the leadership team if you are interested in volunteering but need help with the cost. Thank you for your prayerful consideration of becoming a Stephen Minister.
