As we did last year in September, we will boost our ongoing collection of canned fruit for United Ministries with a month-long fruit drive, and we need your participation! You were so generous during last year’s drive (we more than doubled our goal of 1000 cans with a total of 2380 cans!), so we are raising the bar this year with a goal of 2500 cans.

Last year’s successful drive was a joint effort of many groups: Kindergarten and ITP (now joined to be First Baptist Day School), Greenville Tech Charter High School (who uses our gym regularly), various basketball players who use the AYMC, and members of our congregation. The 5-year Kindergarten class made our collection boxes and helped load the cans into cars, vans and trucks for the delivery. Members then delivered them to United Ministries. We are excited to have the opportunity again this year for a joint
mission endeavor between these groups. The fruit you donate is an important part of the transformational work of United Ministries. During the past year, you joined others in the Greenville community to make $60,000 in food donations. You helped assure that individuals and families didn’t go hungry. In addition to that, your donations of fruit allowed United Ministries to spend the money they would have used to purchase food toward other services (rent assistance, continuing education, job training and more) to help stabilize individuals and families. Between January-June, United Ministries has already assisted over 900 households with food donations.

Thank you for bringing your fruit to FBG during September. Let’s all join together to meet (or beat) our 2500 can goal!
