On Sunday, August 7, our congregation will be celebrating Summer Music Sunday. In the past, we’ve enjoyed the music of Greenville’s street musicians, local jazz artists and our own Sanctuary Choir. This year, we will be graced with the presence and music of Livingston Taylor. Livingston is a professor of music performance at Berklee School of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. He is also a writer, recording artist and performer himself. With multiple CD’s to his credit, he has cut a groove in popular music repertoire. As a performing artist, his casual personality has endeared him to audiences around the world. I met Livingston in Macon, Georgia, years ago. I was immediately impressed with his talent and his authenticity. And, oh yeah…did I mention he is James Taylor’s brother?
You, your family and your friends will not want to miss the Summer Music Celebration on August 7. Worship is open to any and all who will fit in the Sanctuary. Livingston will be integrating his music into our worship hour. The lunch that follows will have limited seating. Adults will pay $10.00, and children will pay $5.00 for the meal and opportunity to hear a full concert set with Livingston. (And hey, make no complaints about the price. The Rolling Stones are performing in Las Vegas this October, and seats are $750. We’re getting a deal!)
You must make your reservation on the church website now. (Did I say ‘now’?) This is your head start. Lunch reservations will be opened to the public in a couple of weeks and seating is limited. So make your reservation today and don’t miss this opportunity to spend time with God, your church family and Livingston Taylor.
