The more we get together, together, together…the more we get together, the happier we’ll be. I sang this chorus as a child in preschool and early elementary school church choirs. It was incessantly sung on Barney and Friends – a favorite preschool television program of my three daughters. (Barney and Baby Bop were Christian dinosaurs! Who knew?) It’s a simple song that is simply true. And since our gatherings make us happy, we’ve got lots of opportunities to fuel our happiness in the next few months.

On February 5, let’s ‘get together’ for lunch – my treat! Following morning worship, I will be hosting (along with the Stewardship Committee) the first of three luncheons to share my review of 2016 and vision for 2017. With typical transparency and brevity, I’ll bring you up to date on our churches income, expenditures and all the good work this affords. I’ll answer any questions you have regarding the mission and ministry of the church…AND…we’ll make it short enough and entertaining enough that you can bring the whole family! Children are welcome! You will need to make reservations for the luncheon. Don’t wait for later luncheons that may conflict with your schedule. If lunch on February 5 is open on your calendar, make your reservation today, and let me treat! Reservations may be made by calling the church office. Or, you can register by clicking here.

We also have an opportunity to ‘get together’ on March 3-5 at our Annual Church Retreat. This year’s theme – You Are Here – will explore the circumstances of life and prayer found in the Book of Psalms. In addition to these worship/study sessions, we’ll enjoy time to relax, plenty of optional recreation, good food and fellowship, and even a luau! It’s a beach theme this year, so bring your wildest Hawaiian shirt, Bermuda shorts (with long johns under them) and grass skirts. It’s going to be fun. Sign up today. Reservations may be made online at https://firstbaptistgreenville.com/churchwideretreat2017/

Add to these events our regular times of worship, bible study, midweek prayer and all the other activities on the church’s calendar and…well…if the more we get together the happier we’ll be, we should be really happy by Easter! See you at lunch…and at retreat…and in church this Sunday!
