About Our Preschool Ministry

i-D59TP3K-2609x1468Our youngest are provided with the best care in order to insure that their first experiences in church are positive. We want them to learn to trust God and the people of God. Preschoolers are provided with constant care and a variety of learning experiences which help them begin to learn who God is and how special they are to God. Children through age 5 are cared for during all church-wide events. Sunday School classes for preschoolers are at 9:15 on Sunday mornings and their locations are on the Nursery Hall and B-wing, A304 and E-332. After Sunday School, preschoolers remain in their rooms where they are cared for by volunteer parents during the worship hour.

As a part of the Extended Session Hour on Sunday mornings, four- and five-year-olds and their teachers attend their own worship service. It is held in the Carpenter Chapel and is led by Dr. Helen Lee Turner. These services include Bible stories, singing and worship education in the observance of the Christian year.

Expectant and new parents are served by Cradle Roll. This ministry makes a connection between the home and the church during this important time. Our beautiful steeple bells peal and play hymns on Wednesday nights to celebrate and give thanks for new births or adoptions among First Baptist members. Family Dedication services are held as a part of the morning worship service. An annual Breakfast for Parents is given to celebrate all the babies born during the past year. Art Experiences for Spiritual Development in Preschoolers, Music Experiences and Vacation Bible School take place during the summer. There are also two specialized weekday education programs: the Infant-Toddler Program and First Baptist Church Kindergarten.

Preschool childcare is offered from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. every Wednesday evening in conjunction with First Baptist Greenville’s MidWeek activities.
This annual parent breakfast and fellowship is offered to new and expectant parents.
Taking place over the course of four days each July, Vacation Bible School is a great resource for preschoolers who for have completed a 3-year-old program through 5-year-olds and for younger children whose parents teach in VBS.
Parents are given the opportunity to dedicate their young children during morning worship throughout the year.
