The United Way of Greenville County has put forth a community service initiative in support of education, called “School Tools.” This initiative recognizes the growing need in our community for the donation of school supplies to assist families unable to purchase supplies on their own.
Last year over 2,708 students received backpacks and school supplies at the biggest School Tools distribution day yet. These students were from 137 schools and Head Start programs in our community, and their annual average household income was $15,236. United Way’s goal this year is to provide supplies for 4,000 children.
Our congregation will collect supplies during the month of July in our designated collection bins around the church.
