Focus on Missions: Ronald McDonald House

Imagine that your child is seriously ill or injured, and you must travel away from home and spend several weeks or months in a location where your child can get treatment. You need to be close to your child, but where will your family stay? What about meals? What about the extra costs? For families facing this situation, the Ronald McDonald House is the “home away from home” for families, so they can be close to their hospitalized children at little or no cost. Every Ronald McDonald House provides families with private bedrooms, playrooms for children, and home-cooked meals.

Greenville’s Ronald McDonald House is located across the street from the GHS Children’s Hospital. Families come to this location from around the upstate, from other southeastern states, and from foreign countries. Because the need is so great, the Ronald McDonald house is currently adding an additional twelve rooms. There is always a need for volunteers who serve in a variety of ways, including baking cookies, doing general office work, or helping with fundraising events. Have questions? Want to help?
