There are many ways to define joy. Joy isn’t just a smile or a laugh. Joy is something that is felt deep within. When we look through a lens of faith, trusting that God is at work, we have an opportunity to experience this divine joy. Often it is with the help of others that I am guided to discover my personal joy. Our annual Youth Christmas Fellowship Breakfast is an event that I look forward to all year. Even though during the holidays our days can be long and our weeks even longer, I have always appreciated returning home for the holidays to be with my church family. Whether I was coming home on Christmas break from college or seminary or for a short vacation from my ministry in Aiken, I relished the opportunity to have a reunion of sorts with friends in my church family.
On this particular Sunday we have our youth, college and Sunday school teachers gathered in one location. As we catch-up, laugh and enjoy reuniting, we remind ourselves of the love, support and joy we provide for one another throughout the year. With the help of all our youth (past and present) I am given great joy, and I hope they may also be provided the same opportunity in their lives.
A big thank you goes out to our special youth family meals team who provided a yummy breakfast for us all to enjoy!
