What can children do at First Baptist?

i-pKvQHsX-2613x1468 copySo much! On Sundays, our children participate in age graded Sunday School classes and enjoy a special children’s message during the worship service designed just for them. Fourth and fifth graders have the opportunity to lead the congregation into worship each week as acolytes, and the second Sunday of October is always Children’s Sabbath, a special worship service led by our children. Children also participate in Discipleship classes, Children’s Missions Weeks, Camp Prism, and Vacation Bible School, as well as occasional art experiences designed to nurture their growing spiritual lives. Outings are planned each month during the school year to give children the chance to deepen friendships and build community. On Wednesday nights our children enjoy age grouped choirs and Children on Mission, our missions education classes. We treasure children at First Baptist Greenville!

Welcome, First Graders!

Need a peek at the presence of God? Hang out with some first graders. Watch and listen. Before Sunday School began on September 11, I took our first graders on a tour of my office. I wanted to show them where I live at church when I’m not on the Children’s Hall, to...

You’ve Got a Friend in Me

What kinds of friendship does God want us to have? This year in Vacation Bible School, children in grades 1-5 celebrated four sacred stories from the Bible which help us understand how we can be good friends to each other. We learned that friendship means praying for...

Camp Prism 2016

“You Can Lock Me Up and I’ll Still Be Free!” If you have a third, fourth or fifth grader, this line from our theme song for Camp Prism 2016 might sound familiar! This summer we took 42 children, including some of our GAIHN friends, to our annual four...

Kids on a Mission!

What happens when you give 18 first and second graders scissors, empty vases, and the stunning arrangement of sanctuary flowers from our Sunday worship service? You get fifteen minutes of happy clipping and chirping (mixed with a little debating)… and finally...

Treasuring Our Teachers

If you had to jot down the names of those people who made a difference in your faith journey as you were growing up, we bet your Sunday School teachers would be at the top of the list. Our children at FBG are so fortunate to have teams of adults who love and care...

Children’s Choirs and Missions Showcase

I felt like the proud mother of 80 children (give or take a few) on Wednesday, May 4, as our Children’s Choirs and Missions groups presented their Children’s Music and Missions Showcase! This was the first time we combined the choir and missions end-of-year programs...
