Twice-monthly continuing education is one of the facets of Stephen Ministry that ensures our care givers are trained to provide optimal care for their care receivers. Occasionally, guest speakers present programs that may have significant interest to the congregation at large. On Sunday, November 5, from 5:00-6:00pm in Carpenter Chapel, you are invited to hear Doug Tate, a new member of FBG, tell his personal story: How Did I Get Here? A Slow Walk into Depression. If you struggle with depression or have a family member or friend who may be dealing with depression, Doug’s experience offers meaningful insight. What we say and how we respond to others living through difficult times is often critical, and our goal as Stephen Ministers is to know how best to “walk with” our care receivers in a way that is supportive and affirming. Join us in hearing Doug talk about coming to terms with having the disease and how he is learning to manage life productively – most of the time – in spite of the disease.
Please bring interested friends and join us by entering through the steeple doors. A brief time for questions and dialogue will follow the presentation.
