Preschool Ministries
Our youngest are provided with the best care in order to insure that their first experiences in church are positive. We want them to learn to trust God and the people of God. Preschoolers are provided with constant care and a variety of learning experiences which help them begin to learn who God is and how special they are to God. Children through age 5 are cared for during all church-wide events.
Sunday School classes for preschoolers are at 9:45 on Sunday mornings and their locations are on the Nursery Hall and B-wing. After Sunday School, preschoolers remain in their rooms where they are cared for by volunteer parents.
As a part of the Extended Session Hour on Sunday mornings, four and five-year-olds and their teachers attend their own worship service. It is help in the Carpenter Chapel and is led by Dr. Helen Lee Turner. These services include Bible stories, singing and worship education in the observance of the Christian year.
Expectant and new parents are served by Cradle Roll volunteers. This ministry makes a connection between the home and the church during this important time. Our beautiful steeple bells peal and play hymns on Wednesday nights to celebrate and give thanks for new births among First Baptist members. Family Dedication services are help three times each year as a part of the morning worship services. An annual Breakfast for New Parents is given to celebrate all the babies born during the past year. Art Experiences for Spiritual Development in Preschoolers and Vacation Bible School take place during the summer.
There are two specialized weekday programs: the Infant-Toddler Program and First Baptist Church Kindergarten.
